My Paradise Dream Wedding

Every little girl dreams of one day meeting her Prince Charming and having the most wonderful, fairytale wedding. My dreams went a little differently. I know, I know marriage is not about the wedding but that’s a whole other post and 5 blogs later to discuss married life, lol!

12.13.14

Back to the story at hand. Once upon a time. Okay, no, that’s not it either, lol! It was December 2014 12/13/14 was the day 4 years exactly from the day I met my husband. The last consecutive day of the decade. There was a lot of thought that went into our big day. One major decision that was made off the back was location. Location, location, location. This was a bit of a challenge for me because both my husband and I lived in Texas and grew up in Michigan but two different areas for both Texas and Michigan. He's from Detroit, I'm from Grand Rapids and fast forward to when we met he lived in Houston and I in Dallas. So we had family and friends coming from all over and wanted them to celebrate with us. I had known from the start though that if we had something remote that everyone wouldn’t be able to make it. So when you’re in a predicament like this what do most of us ladies do? We dial a friend. I weighed the pros and cons of getting married in Oahu, Hawaii or Atlantis Bahamas. In the end it came down to cost for myself and everyone who would be involved.

ALL IN THE DETAILS

Once the decision was made the planning began. It was a very easy process and my planner was always available and easy to work with remotely. I never visited the site prior to the wedding, so we got married site unseen. Atlantis worked side by side with an event company named Cacique and local photographers, shot out to Daphne. I choose all of my linens, table settings, wedding photography sights on the property, and music with the house DJ. Everything else that I wanted extra or different I brought with me (Bride & Groom Chargers, Bunt-let favors thanks to the Doughbar, custom menus) and it all came off without a hitch.

PERFECT FOR ME

The packages back then were perfect for me. And as I was just checking their packages I see that they still have nice packages available. Every thing that you could think of was provided or as an add on, you name it Cacique had it and worked seamlessly with Atlantis (Arches, Chivari Chairs, Vases) everything. The food was AMAZING and I don’t take eating lightly. We had Lobster Mashed Potatoes, Conch Fritters, Lobster Tails, well you get it AMAZING! With our package came a couples massage in their luxurious spa, a night in a honeymoon suite in the Cove Tower (I don’t even want to get into this awesomeness).

Originally I had planned to wed in the sand right on the beach but when we arrived a lot of the shore had been eroded from the winter months so they were very accommodating and offered the ballroom. But when I saw the ballroom I was disappointed because as I mentioned my dream was to be amongst the elements. So at the last minute we were offered another choice which was the most beautiful. To make it even worst there was a chance of rain on the day and I refused to have anything inside. But once again super accommodating they offered a location that they had outdoors, separate from the hotel with floor to ceiling windows for the dance part of the reception. I had a calypso band that might I add due to everything going on, nerves and being swept away for pictures I never really heard, but in the distance was nice. The day was perfect (Oh and it did rain, but rain on your wedding day means good luck) and my life has been too. PERFECT FOR ME!

KID FRIENDLY

Now you know I always have to take care of my parents with the kid tips. Especially now that I have two of my own now. On property is a kids club where they have games and movies. There’s an on property aquarium and several water slides. They also have swimming with manatees and other ocean life creatures. They have several different tower and room options based on cost and budget which I thought was great. And if you own a timeshare you can take advantage of that too. For a little couples time Atlantis Bahamas has a night club, several upscale restaurants, a casino, an adults only pool area, so many nooks and coves and live performances (ie. comedy and concerts). This place has it all, you never have to leave. And I want to go back! We’ve been talking about going back to actually enjoy it all. Because let’s be real when you’re planning a wedding and getting married it’s all work.

Next up, I think we’ll try Atlantis Dubai especially since we’re so close. Which looks crazy nice from what I've seen.

Check out the hotel and wedding packages.
