No Corny Dogs, Big Tex, or Dinosaur Sized Turkey Legs This Year

Updated: Jul 15, 2020

Big Ferris Wheel Fair Park Dallas

Have ya’ll heard? The State Fair has been cancelled. The Texas State Fair has been held in Fair Park in Dallas tracing all the way back to 1886. Festivities typically begin the last Friday of September and run for a full 24 days. The State Fair is a BIG deal here in Dallas. From the Fletcher Corny Dogs to the big ginormous dinosaur sized turkey legs and the Prairie View VS. Grambling or OU VS. UT rivalry games they’re all going to be missed. But do you have to give up everything this year? How about hosting your own fair day with all your favorite fair food. I know, it’s not the same but you can get a little taste. Watch the games & order you some good ol' take out from some of your favs. I even included you a list below.

STEP RIGHT UP GET YOUR FAIR FOOD

- 18th and Vine BBQ | 4100 Maple Ave. (Oak Lawn)

- Local Yocal BBQ & Grill | 350 E. Louisiana St., McKinney

- Top Round | 4800 Bryan St. (East Dallas)

- 400 Gradi | 2000 Ross Ave. (downtown)

- Te Deseo | 2700 Olive St. (Harwood District)

- Pepper Smash | 7200 Bishop Road, Suite B-9, Plano

- Smokey John's Bar-B-Que | 1820 West Mockingbird Ln.

Fletcher’s will actually be doing pop-up events throughout the DFW area this year so you can still get your fix. Or how about this list of places here in DFW (see above) of fair inspired foods. I will even throw in my personal favorite recipe for State Fair Inspired Funnel Cakes courtesy of my baby Kels. You won’t be missing much, just Big Tex and the Ferris Wheel and a few rides and the farm animals, and...well, I guess you'l be missing quite a few things when I think about it, but, next year I guess.
