LetsGo to Legoland California

Updated: Mar 13, 2023

Legoland California is a haven for kids of all ages with its whimsical attractions designed to capture the imagination of young and older minds. It's a favorite destination for families looking to spend quality time together and create unforgettable memories. I suggest if you go you have to do the whole experience if it's in your budget. We love themed hotels and the two Legoland hotels outdid themselves. We stayed in the Castle hotel and it was awesome for the moment we drove into the parking lot. From treasure hunts to theatrical performances in the courtyard, to lego pits in the foyers and restaurants, this place is a must see.

Legoland did an awesome job with mixing it up between rides and attractions. There is definitely something for everyone.

Here are some tips on how to make the most of your visit to Legoland California:

1. Plan ahead

To avoid long lines and get the most out of your trip & day, plan your visit ahead of time. If you're coming from the LA area make sure to leave at least 3hrs prior to you wanting to enter the park. Check the park's website for hours of operation. When we went the park closed super early but also because we stayed at the resort we had early access (30mins to an hour earlier) to the park which was nice. Check for special events, and ticket prices. Consider purchasing tickets in advance to save time and money. We purchased during their Black Friday Sale 2022 and got a great deal on hopper tickets (included the Aquarium)

Make sure if you are staying at the resort to pre-book dinner and breakfast reservations. The restaurants fill up fast and the hotels are super busy. Also, download the app which will help you navigate better.

A. Pro Tip: The build-up is so crucial. Think of a way to announce the trip to your kiddos. You could purchase matching family shirts (Amazon, Etsy) Put together a car kit with snacks and fun travel games, lego themed coloring books. Or purchase a lego set. We also enjoyed watching Ninjago & The Lego Movie the night before to build excitement. They have attractions for both at the park currently (Winter 2023).

2. Dress appropriately

Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Bring sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to protect your skin from the sun. Or coats because being off of the water it can get breezy. The park is large and there is a lot of walking so bringing a small stroller or wagon is advisable or you could rent one along with with adult electric scooters just get there early to do so (but those can get pricey)

3. Explore the attractions

Legoland California offers a wide range of attractions that cater to children of all ages. From themed rides to hands-on interactive exhibits, there is something for everyone. Here are some of the must-see attractions and our favs:

- The Dragon: A roller coaster that takes you through a castle

- Ninjago World: An interactive experience where kids can train like ninjas and battle villains, very interactive and virtual. Little toddlers all the way to elders can enjoy

- Miniland USA: A miniature world of famous landmarks made entirely out of Lego bricks. Such a cool attraction to see and experience. You can see it by water from the rides nearby or walk it

- Lego Friends Heartlake City: A colorful land filled with rides, shows, and shops

- Dig Those Dinos: This is an amazing attraction when the kids are wanting a little rest or the adults. The kids can play in sand and dig for dino artifacts. Great for the tiny ones and big kids and very hands on and interactive

4. Eat and drink

There are plenty of food options in the park, ranging from fast food to sit-down restaurants. And a very nice variety of different types of food. Bring your own water bottles and refill them throughout the day to stay hydrated. The food is rather expensive so be prepared and it's all cashless. Alcoholic beverages are also sold on the resort premises.

5. Rest & Recharge

Legoland did an awesome job with mixing it up between rides and attractions. There is definitely something for everyone. There are plenty of areas where the kids will have an opportunity to build with the legos for free, play in the sand at the Dig those dinos attraction, Immerse themselves in how the legos are built and just break up the day with the playground areas. They also have tons of shops to purchase lego sets or individual legos. And the aquarium is a must see with a hands on attraction too, we loved it.

Legoland California is a great place to have fun with kids. With a little planning, you can make the most of your visit and create unforgettable memories that your family will cherish for years to come. This place will definitely peek your imagination and curiosity.
